Each of the 7,500 NFTs in Porsche’s collection will cost 0.911 ETH in premium and will be released in four waves.  On January 23, at 9:10 a.m. UTC-5, a chosen group of individuals will be permitted to participate in the activity. At 4 p.m. UTC-5, there will be a public mint.

Here are the requirements to qualify for each wave:

  • Wave 01: Hold a Porsche POAP, partner NFT, and be registered at Porsche’s NFT website.
  • Wave 02: Hold a partner NFT and be registered at Porsche’s NFT website.
  • Wave 03: Hold a Porsche POAP and be registered at Porsche’s NFT website.
  • Wave 04: Be registered at Porsche’s NFT website.

Porsche has further ideas for digital collectibles, but if you mint a digital collectible from this first project, you will join the “Pioneers Circle,” as Porsche calls it.

As a Pioneer, you will have the opportunity to co-create Porsche’s Web3 future, get limited edition goods, gain access to special traits from artists and collaborators, join a token-gated Discord, and participate in virtual and augmented reality events. Additionally, Porsche asserts that Pioneers will receive an exclusive airdrop.

Define your way

The opportunity for holders to collaborate on the final appearance and feel of their NFT design is one of the initiative’s most fascinating elements.

Each Porsche NFT starts with a white Porsche 911 Carrera bearing a personalized license plate. Over the course of several months, holders will be able to customize their NFT to reflect their individuality by selecting one of three possible “roads”: performance, heritage, or lifestyle.

Over the course of several months, holders will be able to customize their NFT to reflect their individuality by selecting one of three possible “roads”: performance, heritage, or lifestyle.

In terms of customization, there are around 150,000 possible design options comprising varied backgrounds, colors, and associated design elements. The corporation also mentions the presence of random elements. Eventually, owners will be able to claim a 3D variant of the 2D NFT.

The team developed the project in this manner so that participants could engage more intimately with both the brand and their personal NFT.

In press items provided exclusively with nft today, Lars Kramer, Manager of Innovation and Methods, noted, “In creating the visual interpretation, we drew on Porsche heritage, typical Porsche elements, and modern lifestyle to put together an exciting set of possible layers in a creative journey. We leave a certain amount of freedom to the owners so they can let their style and situational mood flow into the visualization.”

Patrick Vogel, a Hamburg-based designer and 3D artist, and Porsche cooperated on this project. Vogel will develop the various design components of the NFTs and use first consumer feedback to prepare each NFT as a unique 3D asset in Unreal Engine 5.

Vogel encourages collaboration, when other artists may be unwilling to cede so much control.

“Web3 is always about what comes next,” he stated. “You always have this co-creation in mind. It’s different from normal creation in Web2. I love to work with iconic stuff. I love to do really weird art. Colorful, playful. And if Porsche calls you and says, ‘Hey, can you do this?” You say, ‘Of course.’”

Vexx, the Belgian visual artist famous for hand-painting the Porsche Vision Gran Turismo, and Chris Labrooy, the digital artist, are also collaborating on the project. Labrooy constructed the “Dream Big” installation during Art Basel Miami.

Porsche’s NFT: Developing an entirely digital environment

The NFT collection represents simply the beginning of Porsche’s Web3 journey. The company has expressed a desire to eventually extend the luxury automotive purchasing experience to Web3. Moreover, they are contemplating the use of blockchain technology to further safeguard their supply chain.

Some of these plans are still in development, but Porsche claims that this is on purpose.

Porsche’s Director of Brand Management and Partnerships, Deniz Keskin, stated at nft now’s The Gateway: A Web3 Metropolis, “We look at [these releases] almost like seasons in a TV show. What you see now is like season one. We’ll see what we learn from this [first collection] and how we write the story moving forward. Don’t expect a second season to be exactly like this one. We want to [evolve] along with the community.”

Kramer echoed Keskin’s sentiments, noting that the project’s primary objective is all about community engagement.

During the panel, Kramer noted, “The core of the project is the community. We want to get into contact with [the community] and have co-creation. That’s the goal. I’m looking forward to having the first co-creation session with holders in the future. We can test the designs of the artists in the future and bring you guys together with the artists and our whole team.”
