Everything You Need to About Algorand 2.0

The Algorand Foundation released an update to blockchain’s protocol on Thursday, adding to the distribution features (DeFi) and long-awaited contracts. “Algorand 2.0” has been a major expansion of network capabilities since the network’s launch in June 2019.

“With this release, new features and simplified developer equipment allow for new cases of widespread use and acceptance of the entire blockchain,” Algorand chief executive Steve Kokkinos said in a statement.

Algorand workers have been pointing out months of progress ahead of months. It is the first time that Algorand has supported smart contracts, coded contracts that can follow, and make the terms of legal agreements over time.

Algorand’s smart ASC contracts have a back-end variation from smart contracts that are pioneering with blockchains like Ethereum. That’s because the new internal language of Algorand’s Transaction Execution Approval Language (TEAL) programs, is not complete.

The key features of Algorand 2.0 are as follows:

  1. Algorand Standard Asset, which provides customized options during the transaction, and enables any type of visible and non-issue tokens to be issued. It also empowers a person to control the level of authority of the character, thus granting full ownership of the estate.
  2. Atomic transfers mean relying on closed contracts will no longer be necessary and that is why it provides a secure way to transfer goods simultaneously between many different parties at a surprisingly low cost of execution.
  3. Algorand Smart Contract, which provides the fastest, safest, and cheapest atomic transactions at a controlled rate. This can also provide oracle integration with other data providers operating outside chains.
  4. Algorand Standard Asset (ASA) ASA provides a standard Layer-1 machine to represent any type of asset in the Algorand blockchain.

This includes:

  • Fungible Assets, like currencies, utility tokens, or stable coins,
  • Non-Fungible Assets, like tickets, real estate, in-game items,
  • Restricted Fungible Assets like securities,
  • Restricted Non-Fungible Assets like certifications or licenses,

Technically unique

Turing completeness is a measure of the programming language skills of imitating another programming language and perhaps applying its own programming commands.

Almost all modern system languages ​​are Turing-perfect, but Algorand touches on TEAL differences as a feature, not a distraction. Smart TEAL contracts are much safer to write and use, although there is more limited functionality, Algorand argues.

“We do not believe that exercise is necessary in most cases of use,” said Paul Riegle, head of the brand at Algorand. “It adds a lot of attacks and a strong operational impact.”

The easy operation can mean better security – or, at least, a more direct way to ensure that ASC contract codes do not discard unintentional goods. It’s easy and quick to look for a smart contract code for errors when its programming language doesn’t include repetitive thinking, according to Hacker Noon.

Other improvements

  • The General Outreach Service (ASA) brings the widespread features of Algorand tokens and is also the first DeFi tool.
  • The foundation developer page said any material can be computerized and stored in a chain with the ASA.
  • Algorand also introduced batch transaction performance with the Atomic Transfers feature released Thursday.
  • With the new tool, users can perform complex token transfers – such as circular trading and internal account payments – for a single transaction, the developer’s page said.
  • The foundation said Algorand 2.0 does not affect Algorand’s sharia compliance certificate and other unchanged key features.
  • Algorand has investments in the $ 108 million market, according to Nomics, and is rated as the 48th largest blockchain, according to Coin Market Cap.

Algorand Smart Contracts in Layer 1 (ASC1)

  • Of the 53k smart contractors, only 7% of them have used the flow control method (“while” loop) which usually requires a full language test.
  • In addition, it is highly probable that some of those smart “7” contracts could be used without TIME constraints and could be replaced with UTXO features.
