Every Beach Bag Needs the Following

By Swimsuitsdirect @Swimsuitsdirect

Whether you’re planning a quick day trip to the lake or a weekend getaway to the beach, there are a few essentials that everyone must pack in their beach bag. You never know where things may lead, so having these must-haves tucked away into a cute little canvas tote will keep you ready for your day of fun in the sun!

Beach Towels

An uber cute, thick cotton beach towel in a pretty floral or graphic print is must (just make sure the print doesn’t compete with your suit). It will protect you from the sand while lounging, and act as a quick coverup when you hop out of the pool.  A smaller face towel is optional as well.

Sunscreen + Conditioner

Always, always, always pack waterproof sunscreen in your bag. No one wants to burn on the beach, so include a spray or lotion with a minimum SPF of 30. Make sure you apply it 30 minutes to an hour before going outside, and reapply as necessary if you decide to dip your toes in the water.  Also be sure to pack a moisturizing conditioner to minimize damage and keep your hair from turning brassy or brittle.

Hat +Sunnies

Channel your inner celebrity with a huge wide-brim hat and a pair of sleek aviators while you lay out on the beach sipping cocktails with friends. You’ll be both stylish and protected as you relax and enjoy the breeze.

Swimsuit Cover-Up

Forget packing an old t-shirt to cover up with while on the beach.  Pack a short, semi-sheer cover-up or a kimono style dress in your bag that you can easily slip on when you’ve had enough of the water, or when it’s time to head to dinner.

Flip-flops

Believe it or not, sand can get really hot, so a pair of flip-flops will protect the bottom of your tootsies when you walk around. Any old pair will do, but for those that want to keep it chic and show off a fresh pedicure, select a pair with a patent leather strap in a bright color.

Magazine/Books

Now is the perfect time to finally catch-up on all the latest issues of your favorite fashion magazines or celebrity gossip rags. If magazines aren’t your thing, a good book is also a great way to wind down and escape for a few hours. Only add a few (3 magazines MAX) so that you don’t bog down your bag.

Small Makeup/Toiletry Bag

Contrary to popular belief, there’s nothing wrong with wearing a tiny bit of makeup to the beach. Swiping on dark brown waterproof mascara and a lipstain in a coral or blush tone are just enough without being obvious. Also keep moisturizer, nail polish, baby-wipes, toothpaste, and a toothbrush in a small lined makeup bag for touchups throughout the day.

In addition to the above items, bottled water, earbuds for your iPod, and melt-proof snacks should also be packed. Having these essential items will help you get the most out of your day at the beach.
