- The White House website now has a dark mode under President Biden.
- You can even adjust the font size.
- It puts the modern web at the center of US politics.
Apparently every app and website has a dark mode at this point, and that includes the folks at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue now. The White House website has had a makeover now that President Biden is in office, and one of the most noticeable changes is a dark mode.
Tap the Toggle High Contrast button on the side. Dark mode is activated on the entire White House website and changes the background and fonts whether you are on desktop or mobile. That should make it easier to read at night, of course, but it's also a helpful gesture for accessibility - this could lead to pages becoming readable if vision problems break the standard appearance.
You can also enable a large font size if the text is too small.

The addition of a dark mode to the White House website isn't surprising. A new administration provides an opportunity to rethink the government's web presence. This usually means adapting to newer technologies as well as the priorities of the new president. In this case, Biden's team admits that a wide range of people could visit the site, whether they are people in need of visual assistance or just nighttime web surfers.
