It was my first visit to the Art Gallery of Ontario, and to be honest, I’m not sure what took me so friggin’ long.
However, now I can say that I have visited and my brain has been expanded… to the point of explosion. That is to say, my mind was blown.
The permanent collections throughout the building are beautiful and intriguing and awesome. As a man who isn’t refined or educated or even knowledgeable about art I can really only appreciate the pieces I see by how they make me feel in the moment.
And last night at the AGO there were some amazing pieces that made me feel a sense of awe and wonder.
I took photos of some of the pieces I liked best, but not all of them. Specific to my wonder and entertainment was the work of Evan Penny who will be featured in the Re Figured exhibit until February 20. I highly recommend you check it out before it’s gone. The image at the top of this post is from that exhibit, as are the one to the left of this paragraph and the 3 directly below it. The other works came from various spaces throughout the gallery, including the bottom half of Jey from the Michael Snow: Objects Of Vision installation.
