European Christmas Market Creates New Minneapolis Holidazzle Village Tradition

By Homesmsp @HomesMSP

The next chapter of the Minneapolis Holidazzle tradition opened this weekend with the new Holidazzle Village and Minneapolis Holiday Market.  Christmas markets have been a German tradition for 700 years. This year the tradition comes to Minneapolis... and it got off to a great start this weekend!

Peavy Plaza has been transformed into a quaint village showcasing a European Holiday experience... with shopping, entertainment, delicious food and drink... even a carousel. Admission to the Minneapolis Holiday Market is $6 general admission evenings and weekends for adults... BUT your ticket becomes your season pass so you only have to pay once for the entire season!  Children 6 and under are always free, and entire families are free on Tuesdays from 11 to 4.

When we were there on Saturday, there were lines of people waiting to get into the market, and the market itself was crowded. However, it was opening weekend so everyone was eager to check it out. I expect crowds may be less as time goes on... and if you are serious about shopping, try stopping during the week.

Free Holidazzle Village family events take place along Nicollet Mall between 10th and 12th Streets... including bands and choirs performing, photos on a Holidazzle float, meeting reindeer, glass blowing demonstrations, story time stage, dog sledding exhibitions and ice skating on Nicollet Mall the weekend before Christmas!
