Apparently to the refs, it was no big deal. You touch a quarterback 2 seconds after he gets rid of the ball and all hell breaks loose. However, if you rip a player’s helmet off and then headbutt him, it’s just a 15 yard penalty. Look, I can’t blame the refs because they’re not looking for stuff like this. The league has them focusing on defenseless receivers and quarterbacks, not a tight end and a defensive lineman battling a few seconds after the play ends.
Sure Walden will get a fine, maybe a suspension, but he should have been sent off. Everything he did there was illegal.
