Marketed as the “World’s Safest Plane”, the Ercoupe was unique in lacking rudder pedals, the Ercoupe was flown using only the control wheel. This plane was in production by various companies from 1940-1969. The Ercoupe was certified by the Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) as “characteristically incapable of spinning.” This aircraft type is also special in that Jessica Cox became the first person in the world to earn a pilot’s license world’s although she was born without arms. A truly inspirational person, I have had the pleasure of meeting Jessica on several occasions and this photograph is dedicated to her accomplishment.
