Envisioning the Reader

This week prompt:

Do you envision a particular reader when you’re crafting your stories?

Yes I do. Giving that there an audience for every type of story out there, I hope the people who read my stories like the genres I write in.

Anyone who likes paranormal detective or the show Ghost would like my horror book.

Anyone that likes fantasy mix with sword and sorcery would like my story Song of the Fire Beast.

Anyone who likes the idea of a classic style science fiction where humanoid AI inhabited a planet before humans come to colonize it.

Honestly I think it hard not to write with particular reader in mind because you do has to find and market your book to that reader,

What I don’t have in mind when writing is the age demographic. While I have cuss words in my horror book I do not think a little kid will on their own be reading my book. Even those I know people who said their mom read them Stephen King when they were two and they turn out *fine*… okay.

While I’m not writing fantasy and sci-fic intended for teens, I would think my stories will appeal to them in some way.

I do think there an importance to knowing your audience. Even if your in the middle of writing your first book.
