Enjoy Freedom from Dampness with Dr. Fixit

The relationship we share with our childhood friends is something special. They've been with us through those fun, innocent years and we've shared all our big dreams together. Of course as we grow and take on more responsibilities like college, jobs and a family, our big dreams get smaller and the distance between us tends to grow larger!

I have a friend like that too - a girl who lived near our home and with whom I played every single evening without fail! But when her father got transferred, she moved away with her family, and I missed her terribly. Then we went our own different ways with infrequent communication during birthdays and festivals.

So imagine my surprise when I found that the new family who had moved into the house next door was no one else but my childhood friend! I was delighted - we were neighbors again! Of course we couldn't run out and play like earlier, but at least we were close. I met her family, including her adorable little toddler, a soon-to-be two year old chubby girl.

We often had our evening tea together in our lawn, with lots of conversation on the side. My friend knew I was a doctor, so she mentioned how her daughter had frequent bouts of respiratory problems that never seemed to go away completely. She also got rashes on her skin and had been to an allergy specialist but the medications offered only temporary respite. How much medicine could you give such a little girl, she asked.

It was only on the occasion of her daughter's second birthday party that I realized what the cause was. Her little girl's room's ceiling was covered in mold!! It didn't just look bad; it was also giving out a musty smell and was spreading to the corners of the walls. I asked my friend about it and she said that they were planning to get it painted soon. I told her that painting wasn't going to be enough; she was going to need something much more than that!

When it rains, water can seep through walls that don't have any waterproofing, and leak through rooms, causing dampness and mold. The greenish-grey mold can ruin the look of your carefully decorated interiors and spread a sickening smell as soon as you walk in through the door. But the bigger problem is the risk to health, especially for young children as in the case of my friend's daughter. Mold can trigger allergies, asthma, respiratory issues and eczema. Painting over the mold is not going to help, since you need to tackle the problem from a deeper level with experts that are trained for it. You'll find exactly the kind of people you need from Dr. Fixit.

Dr. Fixit has a fully trained team of waterproofing experts who will visit the site personally and perform an in-depth inspection. They then suggest practical solutions that are tailormade for the current problem, with their custom products like Dr. Fixit Roofseal, Dr. Fixit Raincoat and Dr. Fixit Newcoat Ezee. Terraces, bathrooms, external walls, water pipes - everything is subject to proper examination. Even the Big B knows that Dr. Fixit will get the job done - check out the video below!

So that's exactly what I suggested to my friend. She got in a team, who worked on the house inside out. The result was a home that looked and felt completely fresh - you could almost feel the house taking a deep breath after being suffocated for so long!

Now her little girl is a healthy, active child who runs around and goes to playschool - without any sneeze, rash or allergy! And me and my friend? Now that it's raining, we don't sit in the lawn with our tea; but we don't have to - not when the inside is so clean and fresh!
