English Language Theater in Paris

By Eyepreferparis88 @eyepreferparis

One of the things I sorely miss about New York is theater, going at least once a week when I lived there. Although there is lots of theater in Paris, my comprehension of French cannot withstand 2 hours non-stop, so I rarely go.
I was happy to recently hear of two theater companies that offer performances in English.
Montmartre Dionysia is a biannual theater festival and competition started on a whim last year by two friends in a drunken stupor (Don’t you love stories like this? It’s kind of the same way Air BNB started and look at where those guys are now).
Nine original short plays, four in competition, five put of competition, and two Pinter plays are performed in a seven day period. Performances are in two spaces, a theater in Montmartre and a peniche on the Quai St. Bernard. Judges Romily Masters (director of the Oxford Samuel Beckett Theatre Trust and artistic director of Cinemorphe) and Jos Houben (Creator of The Art of Laughter and teacher at Ecole Jacques Leocq) will select the best play and actor.
December 1-6
Tickets are 8 & 12 euros

Theatre in Paris offers classic French plays with English surtitles. (surtitles are texts translated on to a screen above a stage during the performance). Current productions include Cyrano de Bergerac directed by Jean-Philippe Daguerre and Around the World in Eighty Days directed by Sebastien Azzopardi.
Tickets are 44 euros, 29 euros under 26
