Competitive cooking contests require immense creativity in thinking how a particular product can be used~~in what way that’s not already been done~~EGGO has a big contest where you let your juices flow on how to make easy, fun and new deliveries of their well-known EGGO waffles.
To be honest, I haven’t bought a box of EGGO waffles in a long long time~~I usually make my own~~but I know that they’re quite popular and even with my granddaughters! When they come to visit, there’s, no doubt, EGGO waffles and pancakes in the freezer! My wheels sparked when I opened my freezer and saw a bag of Dole Dark Red Cherries~~immediately, my head thought ‘cherry bombs’ and that’s how the EGGO Cherry Bomb was born! It’s a mighty tasty littl’ treat and a no brainer in making…the presenation will certainly bring about squeals of joy!
Servings: 3
What you need:
9 small Eggo Homestyle Minis (thawed)
3 packaged ice cream sugar cones
12 frozen whole pitted cherries
9 tsp whipped cream cheese
1 bottle Magic Shell Chocolate Fudge
3 sprigs fresh mint
3 (10”) skewers
What you do:
For each serving:
- Cut one of the mini Eggos into quarters. Gently push into the ice cream cone. Drizzle some chocolate into the cone. It will form a ‘shell’ and stabilize the skewer.
- Cut the other 2 Eggo minis into halves. Put about ½ tsp of whipped cream cheese on it.
- Take a cherry and slide onto the skewer (about 2-3” from the top). Next slide the half piece of waffle with cream cheese.
- Continue this pattern with the remaining cherries and mini waffles/cream cheese. Each skewer will have 4 half waffle/cream cheese/cherry pieces.
- Gently push the pointed part of the skewer (about 3”) into the cone. The mini waffle pieces will add stabilization and balance for the skewer.
- Drizzle from the top some of the magic shell chocolate on each ‘Eggo Cherry Bomb’—let it drizzle down the side. Garnish with a sprig of mint.
