I enjoy discovering indigenous aircraft while traveling overseas. Here is the Eifgenossische Flugzeugwerke (Federal Aircraft Factory) EFW N-20 Aiguillon (“Stinger”), Switzerland’s first indigenous jet fighter project. Completed in 1952, this four-engined delta wing prototype was hampered by the underpowered jet engines of the period. The aircraft was fitted with four Swiss SM-1 engines and flew briefly during a taxi test in April 1952 but development of the engine and the N-20 aircraft was cancelled soon afterwards. It is on display at the Flieger Flab Museum (Swiss Air Force Museum) in Zurich.
