Edinburgh Larder Launch Edinburgh Food Social

By Emma @glasgowfoodie

The Edinburgh Food Social is a new enterprise that will bring cooking skills and confidence to people of all ages and backgrounds.  Supported by the team behind the Edinburgh Larder Café and Bistro.  They will bring their private sector expertise to the public sector, raising awareness of local and seasonal food.

Larder owner Eleanor Cunningham describes the project: “It’s a way to bring the Larder’s knowhow of using local and seasonal food to schools and community groups around town using a mobile kitchen.”

They are currently running a crowd funding campaign (ending 17th March) to raise capital to buy a fully functioning food truck.

Eleanor says “once we’ve got the truck, we’ll be able to deliver demos, catering and educational packages to people of all ages from all backgrounds”

“We want to spread the word of why it’s good to think of food as something that changes from region to region and throughout the seasons.”

The Edinburgh Food Social works towards key aims:

Improving cooking skills
Developing healthy eating habits
Boosting confidence
Enhancing employability
Supporting local food producers
Creating community links
