Earned Benefits

How true! The Republicans, who have always hated Social Security and Medicare, love to refer to those programs as entitlements -- because they know the term carries a negative con nation, such as someone getting something they don't deserve (but think they are entitled to get). This is nothing but a rather sneaky form of propaganda, meant to justify their efforts to harm those programs (by abolishing them, or at least cutting the benefits).
The truth is that those receiving Social Security and Medicare have paid into those programs all of their working lives (and continue to pay into medicare out of their Social Security benefit). They have earned those benefits, and deserve every penny they get. Don't buy into the Republican lies and distortions, and don't let them hurt either of those programs.
