Note: Considered the most important photographer of his time, Stieglitz was instrumental in making photography an accepted art form. He served as a juror for the first photography exhibition held in 1900 at the Art Institute of Chicago. He published the Camera Work magazine and ran New York art galleries in the early 20th century. He was married to painter Georgia O'Keeffe.
