Red Sox second baseman found out during the sixth inning of the Red Sox versus Yankees game Wednesday night that a child would not wait for his father, even during a huge rival game.

Second baseman, Dustin Pedroia, was called in during the sixth inning of the game appearing confused with the action. He was then told by Red Sox manager, Bobby Valentine that his second son, named Cole, was on his way. With the game being broadcasted live and all over the nation, Pedroia’s reaction was priceless as it was shown to viewers everywhere.

Missing a game is nothing new to Pedroia. He missed the 2009 All-Star game in St. Louis when complications came up during Kelli’s pregnancy with the couple’s first born, Dylan.

As for the game, the Red Sox lost 4-5 to their rivals, the Yankees and many are called it a save. MSNBC’s Willie Geist posted on Twitter Wednesday night, “Dustin Pedroia’s wife goes into labor! Good luck, Pedroia’s from Yankee fans…and thanks for missing a critical 9th inning at-bat!”
