Dubai’s government has revealed the Dubai Metaverse Strategy, that will launch plans to attract more than 1,000 companies in the field of Blockchain and Metaverse. In line with the orders of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, the government aims to create over 40,000 virtual jobs by 2030.
According to the statement, important points of the strategy will concentrate on extended reality (that combines the physical and virtual worlds), augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), mixed reality, and digital twins (a virtual representation of an object or system).
The strategy aims to exploit real-time data, use machine learning and the Internet of Things, and use artificial intelligence simulation and blockchain to improve human thought processes. Data, network, cloud, and edge computing will be technology pillars of the Metaverse strategy, which focuses on real-world data which is acquired, validated, stored, processed, and managed. Other pillars include promoting the full deployment of 5G networks to enable edge computing and offer on-demand computing system resources. Edge computing lets data be gathered, stored, and processed locally through smart devices and local area networks rather than the cloud.
Omar Bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for AI, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, and Deputy CEO of Metaverse Strategy Dubai Future Foundation, mentioned the significance of designing the future with new digital strategies to adopting the Metaverse in critical sectors.
He also added that the Metaverse will lead the efforts of the UAE and Dubai to provide innovative solutions, positively impact people’s lives, and transform the city into one of the smartest hubs in the world, providing new economic chances.
The Dubai metaverse strategy plans to foster innovation, increase economic participation of Metaverse via R&D cooperations, and promote advanced ecosystems using accelerators and incubators which pulls companies and projects to Dubai.
Sheikh Hamdan, Crown Prince of Dubai, stated that: “Dubai has taken great strides in advancing its position as a global test
bed for Metaverse tech, as investing in building capabilities and talent to create the region’s strongest and largest ecosystem for the Metaverse community. Embracing new technologies will be a stepping stone in Dubai’s vision to use future technologies to make new business models in critical sectors and raise the impact of the Metaverse on regional and global economies.”
