Between my flights from Hong Kong to Dubai then onward to Amsterdam, I had an overnight layover to be spent at Dubai International Airport. Instead of spending the night on a lounge chair, I decided to stay at Dubai International Hotel and got a night of good rest. Read more…
LOCATION
Dubai International Hotel is located in three concourses of Dubai International Airport, namely Concourse C in Terminal 1, and Concourse A and B of Terminal 3. I stayed at the only executive floor, which is located in Concourse B of Terminal 3.
To get there, I was fetched by the friendly duty manager of the hotel upon arrival at my gate. Meet and greet service, I was told, is complimentary to anyone staying at the hotel, and it includes access to the premium security line used by business and first class passengers.
STYLE/CHARACTER
The Dubai International Hotel exceeds the expectations of an airport hotel, to the point that it seems just a few amenities short of a five-star hotel. And since it welcomes guests from all corners of the world, everything about it is up to international standards.
ROOMS
I stayed in an Executive Room. It was sleek, elegant, and spacious that it was almost palatial for an airport hotel room. It had every feature found in a five-star hotel room, starting with a comfortable king bed and a massage chair—both of which were perfect after a long eight-hour flight. The bathroom, meanwhile, was likewise spacious, and it even featured a full-sized tub.
FACILITIES
Although I was unable to try them out, the hotel has a range of facilities, including a gym, swimming pool, spa, hot tub, and steam room. It has meeting facilities too.
FOOD AND DRINK
Arriving late night, I had supper at the Executive Lounge, which offers a selection of light snacks and beverages, as well as a menu of hot dishes 24/7. Food and drinks at the lounge, even the a la carte dishes, are complimentary to those staying in one of their executive floor rooms.
SERVICE
For me, it did help that the hotel is staffed by mostly Filipinos because they made me feel at home. They were warm, friendly, and efficient.
VALUE FOR MONEY
Stays at the Dubai International Hotel are understandably priced at a premium. Yet with the comfort of the rooms, the VIP treatment, the complimentary food and drinks, and most of all, the amount of rest between flights one would be getting, the splurge, I believe, it worth the money.
