Dry Fruit laddu’s are a very healthy and delicious dessert made without added sugar or jaggery . They are made with natural sweetner i.e dates. Thay are also fat and guilt free dessert.
It is a healthy ideal snack for kids and adults. You can make this for any festival, celebration or to use daily as a breakfast item. Usually all the Indian desserts or sweets are made of some kind of flour , ghee and sugar or jaggery. Thay are absolutely delicious but are rich in calorie .
These Dry fruit ladoo are like energy bars but without adding any sugar. They are home made so you can adjust the ingredients as per your likely and preference. I have added what ever I have at home and my family loves but you can skip few if you don’t want to add so many ingredients. You can add only your favourite nuts or seeds in it.
Dates are used for binding these ladoos so use good quality soft dates to make these laddus. If the dates are not soft then you feel difficulty in binding. You can also add some figs in it if you wish too. Dates and raisins are enough to make these ladoos sweet so no need to add any sugar in it.
How To Make Date and Dry Fruit Laddus-
First of all deseed the dates and crush them in a mixer or chopper and make a fine paste. I have roasted the nuts and seeds in 1 tbsp ghee for the extra flavour and crunch but you can totally skip it if you want to make it easier. Chop the nuts coarsely in a chopper for a bite in the laddus , don’t make a powder of the nuts. The seeds are roasted slightly and directly added in the date s, no need to crush the seeds . Grate the dried khoper and keep aside(if it is not available then you can add dessicated coconut but not the fresh coconut)
Now add 1 tbsp ghee in a heavy bottom pan and add the date paste and heat it on low flame for about 2 minutes or till it become slightly soft and warm. Switch off the heat and now add all the crushed nuts ,the roasted seeds, coconut, cardamom powder and mix well. Let the temperature comes down slightly then grease your palm with some ghee or butter and take some dough and make small size laddus from it.
Store in an airtight jar at room temperature , they will stay fresh for weeks.
