Nallathanniya Police yesterday arrested a woman on Sri Pada pilgrimage while under the influence of liquor. Police arrested the woman who was driving a car under the influence of liquor, when she reached Nallathanniya accompanied by two men in the car.
She was imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 and her driving license was suspended for three months after she pleaded guilty for the offence, after being produced before Hatton District Judge yesterday.
Special police teams have been deployed to nab Sri Pada pilgrims bringing drugs and alcohol to the sacred area around the clock.
