The Attanagalla Magistrate yesterday ordered to remand the car driver who claimed the lives of a father and his 14-year-old daughter under the influence of alcohol at Kal-Eliya, Pasyala till November 23.
The 54-year-old father and the daughter met with this fatal accident while on the way back home on Monday (14) evening. After knocking down the victims, the car had fled the scene towards Pasyala.
However, the area residents of Kal-Eliya managed to take the suspect into their custody and handed him over to the Pallewela Police.
He has been identified as Dhanushka De Silva of Mithirigala, a manager of a leading poultry farm chain in the country.
The suspect had consumed alcohol and was speeding towards Pasyala from Mirigama, it was revealed before Court. The victims, Chandana Nishantha and Nevindi Dilshika were residents of Kal-Eliya.
