Madampe Police have started investigations regarding the theft of parts of an electrical transformer worth about Rs 5.5 million, from a business which has closed down, located in the Galahitiyawa area of Madampe.
The owner of the business has lodged a complaint with the police about this theft.
The owner of the business in his complaint said that the theft has taken place between March 17 and June 19.
He also told the police that the transformer had been switched off.
A senior police officer said that it appears that drug addicts in the area have stolen the parts to sell them at iron weights and they will be arrested soon.
