DRC First Lady Olive Lembe di Sita met with Pope Francis in the Vatican on Wednesday, September 11.

Olive Lembe, who goes in Kinshasa by the moniker Maman-Capable, took that opportunity to present to His Holiness a letter, which conveyed her impassioned plea in behalf of the Congolese people--especially those in the east suffering "all kinds of atrocities" caused by "many unjust wars."

Maman-Capable also took that opportunity by asking His Holiness "to grant us the joy of visiting us on the earliest occasion."

She also asked "His Holiness for the intercession of prayer for lasting peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo."

Amen!

But, uncannily, when I read that part of Maman-Capable's letter, I couldn't help thinking of John Fogerty's memorable lines from "Change in the Weather":

"Down on your knees, go ahead and pray/

But every demon has to have his day."
