DPRK state media reported on 24 June (Monday) that DPRK Cabinet Premier Pak Pong Ju visited the Komdok mining area and sites in Tanch’o'n, South Hamgyo’ng Province. Pak’s first visits were to the Komdok area where he focused on “the work for preventing damage in rainy season.” Pak “encouraged the officials and workers there in their dynamic drive to bring about a signal boost in production, aware of their important revolutionary duty.” He held a meeting with local officials and workers which “discussed the matters of radically increasing the production at the Taehu’ng Youth Hero Mine and other mines and industrial establishments, true to the noble intention of the Workers’ Party of Korea and developing the processing trade” and “referred to the importance of keeping the equipment in full-capacity operation and putting them on a modern basis.” According to KCNA, Pak “underscored the need for the ministries, national institutions and other relevant units to supply a sufficient quantity of raw and other materials and took measures for preventing the damage in rainy season.”

Pak Pong Ju also visited sites in Tanch’o'n including the Tanch’o'n Magnesia Factory, the Tanch’o'n Smeltery and the city’s port. During his tours, Pak “encouraged the workers who are bringing about innovations in production, true to the appeal sent by the dear respected Marshal Kim Jong Un in which he called for ushering in a new heyday on all fronts of socialist construction by creating the ‘Masikryo’ng Speed’.” He held another “consultative meeting” which addressed “matters on stepping up the modernization of equipment, finishing at an early date the construction of fresh production processes and using and managing well Tanch’o'n Port” and at which “measures were also taken to reenergize the production in various units including the Tanch’o'n Magnesia Factory by thoroughly carrying out the last instructions of leader Kim Jong Il, and to let the ministries, national institutions and other related units fully supply raw and other materials needed for the modernization and construction.”
Pak also visited the Sangnong Mine where he “underscored the need to accelerate modernization and scientization of the mineral production, realize massive mining and dressing of ores and increase the actual extraction rate in concentration.”
