N341A is the one and only Douglas DC-3 variant designated as a C-41A, one of two aircraft requisitioned by Maj. Gen. Henry ‘Hap’ Arnold in 1938 as VIP transports for himself and military command staff. (The sister ship was designated as a C-41) Unlike standard military C-47 transport planes, this aircraft (40-0070) featured a luxury interior with swivel seating for inflight meetings and sleeping berths. It also retains its original 1939-style tail insignia and polished finish. The DC-3 first flew in 1935, with 607 delivered before civilian production ended in 1943. More than 10,000 of the military C-47s would be produced in Long Beach, Santa Monica, and Oklahoma City.
