Domain Movers: Doers.com, Store.com, ColorSnap.com & More Domains

Posted on the 23 September 2015 by Worldwide @thedomains

This is Domain Movers! This exclusive series focuses on domain names that are on the move for one reason or another and most of the time this is because of a domain name sale. Domain Movers focuses on corporate transactions, startups and simply valuable domain names.

These are often early detection’s and can lead to new advertising campaigns, new brands, products, services and much more. Here we go with the latest.

PLR IP Holdings, LLC has registered the domain name PolaroidSnapCamera.com . New Ventures Services, Corp owns SnapCamera.com and has it listed with a Buy Now on Afternic for $1,077.

I was not able to find any stories relating to an actual current product by the brand called “snap camera”, so this may be a future product?

THE GILLETTE COMPANY, which is owned by The Procter And Gamble Company has moved the domain names Duracell.com and DuracellPowermat.com from name servers Savvis.net TO Cscdns.net. Both domain names retain “The Gillette Company” name in whois records. The IP location shows Procter And Gamble with an ASN of SAVVIS.

It was announced in November 2014 that Berkshire Hathaway was to purchase the Duracell brand from P&G and this movement may be related to that?

Haworth, Inc. has purchased the domain name EverydayOffice.com from Mike Mann’s DomainMarket.com. The domain name had a buy now price of $25,000 and was registered on October 15, 2010. The domain name has since transferred to CSC Corporate Domains. Haworth offers adaptable workspaces.

Microsoft Corporation registered several new domain names that all relate to each other. Those were AllianceForOpenMedia.com |.net|.org . A0Media.com |.net |.org (0 is a Zero) and AoMedia.org (letters a and o). The .com is owned by a Chance Kim and is listed for sale. OpenMedia.com is not owned by Microsoft either currently and owned by a Michael Bowen.

Kraft Heinz Foods Company has purchased the domain name KetchupsNewMustard.com? The domain name was recently registered on March 31, 2015 by CollectiveBias.com according to whois records at eNom. The domain name has now transferred to domain name registrar MarkMonitor under the Kraft Heinz name.

The Ford Motor Company filed a word mark on the term Daily Parts Advantage with a filing date of August 10, 2015 and on August 20, 2015 the domain name DailyPartsAdvantage.com was registered at NameBright.com by a Sean Lee. The domain name was never registered prior to August 20, 2015.

MarkZuckerberg.com is on the move and took a virtual trip from GoDaddy.com to corporate domain name provider of Facebook and many other large corporations, MarkMonitor. The .net followed right behind big brother .com! GoDaddy was displaying a invalid whois message on the website for the domain name according to Archive.org but it’s not clear if the Harvard email address associated with the whois history on the domain is to the one Mark Zuckerberg, founder of Facebook or not.

MarkZuckerberg.com (registered at GoDaddy) was registered on August 22, 2004, some 7 months after TheFacebook.com was created on January 11, 2004 at Register.com.

AOB.com has been put up for sale! The domain name has been registered since May 12, 1994. PerkinElmer was the registrant on file prior going into generic whois data at domain name registrar and corporate domain name services provider MarkMonitor.

It is fairly common for MarkMonitor to offer domain names for sale for clients and they do so by putting up a contact / inquire form on the specific domain name for sale. I have inquired on many of these domains, just to be sure… and the majority of time, the requested price has been 6 figures on 3 letter .com domain names. AOB.com is a very nice domain name!

Altria Client Services Inc. has purchased the domain name RealTobacco.com from HugeDomains.com. The domain name has been registered since March 23, 2012.

Johnson & Johnson has purchased the domain name ChallengeObesity.com. The domain name was owned by Firefly LLC FZ- Dubai and registered at Name.com on July 10, 2014 after it expired in April 2014 when it was owned by a Walter Bentley.

J&J also registered several ORSL related domain names like ORSLRehydrate.com, ORSLRehidrat.com, ORSLPlus.com, ORSLfos.com and ORSL.net. Get On The Web owns ORSL.com and often lists the majority of its 4 letter .com domains in the five figure range. This case is no different with a $18,950 offering price on ORSL.com. Will J&J spend it? We will see.

Microsoft Corporation has registered the domain names BuiltOnSurface.com | .net and ChooseToCode.com | .net

Y9.com has been sold according to whois records. The domain name was owned by Y9 Inc. and a todd@groovetickets.com registrant email address. The domain was transferred ownership to GoldenName.com about August 12, 2015.

BuzzFeed.com Inc. has transferred its main domain name BuzzFeed.com from Name.com to MarkMonitor and removed whois privacy from the domain name in the process.

Home Box Office, Inc. registered several new domain names for a new show? LennyBelardo.com, MeetLennyBelardo.com and WhoIsLennyBelardo.com. They also registered MeetPopePiusXIII.com, WhoIsPopePiusXIII.com, The-Young-Pope.com and Young-Pope.com.

Wagamama Ltd registered the domain names WayOfTheNoodle.com |.net |.org and BowlToSoul.com |.net |.org

Land O Lakes, Inc. registered the domain name ChuckTheCup.com adding to its domain name portfolio of about 800 domain names.

ColorSnap, a new paint selection system by Sherwin-Williams is set to debut in August 2015 and the company plans to debut the new system in all 4,000 stores in the US and Canada by January 2016. Sherwin-Williams didn’t forget to secure the matching domain name ColorSnap.com, which it acquired from HugeDomains.com on or about April 30, 2015 and launched a stand alone website on it right away.

The last price I could find on ColorSnap.com when HugeDomains.com owned it was $1,795, a sweet spot price point the company is commonly listing in. I would say on average, domain names are listed for about $1,000 to $5,000 and HugeDomains has inventory in the millions (around 3 the last time I checked).

The Sherwin-Williams Company filed 3 trademarks relating to the ColorSnap term dating June 16, 2015 for the filing date on one and April 24, 2015 for the other two.

Also to note, I was able to find an app released by Sherwin-Williams dating November 11, 2014 holding the ColorSnap name here. That app may have been used for testing but was the earliest clue I could find.

Store.com which is owned by CBS Interactive Inc. and was redirecting the domain name to Search.com has switched gears and now redirects Store.com to MySimon.com. My Simon is a comparison shopping site, also owned by CBS and is on the CNET name servers.

Doers.com has been acquired by Chevron. The domain name came out of privacy on August 28, 2015 when it was pending transfer to CSC. Prior to going into privacy protection in May 2015, the owners information was generic but held the registrant email address of domains@backbones.org which is owned by Interad Inc. The domain name has been registered since 2000.

Doers.com is now redirecting to http://www.chevron.com/Doers/USA/ with a HUGE word DOERS on the website and a Chevron logo with the term Human Energy next to it. The website goes on to state:

DOERS built this country. Hard-working DOERS and smart-working DOERS. They built the dams and the railroads, the Golden Gates and the Empire States. And all that doin’ took energy. Energy got us here. And it’s our job to make sure there’s enough energy to keep DOERS doin’ the stuff DOERS do…to keep us all doin’ what we do.

FireEye, Inc. registered the domain name StopTheBreach.com. FireEye is a network security provider.

Arcadia.com has been acquired from Johnson & Johnson according to whois records by Arcadia Components, LLC who uses the domain name ArcadiaComp.com currently.

The domain name has been registered since April 12, 1995 and Johnson & Johnson has owned the domain dating back to at least October 10, 2000 which is the first whois history record for the domain name on DomainTools.com.

There are a lot (hundreds) of trademarks on the term, and Johnson & Johnson holds 1 of those for Soaps, perfumery, essential oils, cosmetics etc. which was filed on June 29, 2004 and is still active.

Arcadia Components, LLC also holds 1 trademark for Arcadia with a filing date of July 2, 2003 but relates to a different goods and services than the J&J trademark. Interesting J&J would release a domain name to a matching TM and product they offer. I did a UDRP search and could not find a filing for the domain.

AppFolio has acquired the domain name SecureLegalDocs.com according to whois records. The domain name has been registered since June 3, 2012 and was parked with Voodoo.com when Scott Mueller was shown as the registrant.
