Does It Like He Did Before ...

Paul Orwell is one that, despite not offering the utmost amount of music, has managed to impress us all the same and, with a new, free EP on the way to thank everyone for all of their support, we're massively privileged to be able to report on it first!! Like I Did Before is a 60's infused EP that will really get your blood pumping and your body moving ... we can't help but praise him.
 Like I Did Before, whilst being on complete form in terms of how it plays up to the 60's style that Paul has got down, is somewhat more aggressive that his previous efforts and, in comparison to the rest of the EP, also seems somewhat more angry. This is a very different emotion to what we've come to think of Orwell, though, he still manages to channel it really well and, our only qualm with this track is that, at times, it may be a little loud .... otherwise, another absolute classic comes in the form of this genius little man's mind and mouth and, albeit not quite our favorite single on this EP, we really cannot complain.
 Hide and Seek is short, but undeniably sweet. With one of the most stunningly happy little riffs you're ever going to hear, there is absolutely no way that you can't see how this sort of thing would work at any beach in the world, and manage to bring sunshine to anyone's day!! It's quick in its pace, loving in the way it's sung and, we cannot help but keep playing this one on repeat. The references to the likes of Duane Eddy, The Ventures, The Beatles, and The Surfaris are really prominent here and, we reckon this could be our favorite of the four tracks on this EP.
 Death Wish, a slightly darker turn round the corner, teams up with a slightly deeper honkytonk piano tune to offer even more in the way of sunshine music. The best way to describe this EP, is that it is one of those ones that you simply have to listen to with the top of your car down, when driving towards the beach, on a beautifully crisp Summer morning. There's no way that you'll be leaving your car with the highest of expectations, and one of the most incredible smiles you've ever worn. Death Wish, despite being that bit darker, that bit deeper, and that bit more serious in terms of subject, still resonates in the present day and we can't help but really enjoy it.
 The finale comes in Damaged Goods. This focuses much moreso on the drumming, something you won't have really clocked onto before. This one does really mark the end, and whilst he is most definitely still grasping onto the 60's theme, there's an inkling in there of something that Arctic Monkeys would do ... well, up until the chorus that is. From then on, a slight drop takes place, an incredible change of pace, and one of the most beautifully done choruses flourishes into the end of an absolutely incredible, and free, EP.
