When it comes to British bands, you’d pretty much think there were only one if you frequent this site. Yes, Alt-J is incredible, but they do have some fierce competition for this year’s Mercury Prize in Scottish quartet Django Django (@thedjangos). Their self-titled debut LP, released in Europe via Because Music (Justice, Metronomy) and through Domino imprint Ribbon Music here in the States last month, is filled with 13 tracks of infectious indie psychedelic pop that’s chopped up masterfully throughout with glitchy cosmic electronic affects. They’re playing two shows in New York this week — you can check them out at Bowery Ballroom on Tuesday or Knitting Factory Brooklyn on Thursday. Of course, there are plenty more great gigs this week so check out our list below!
Thanks for checking out our suggested New York City indie concerts list! I won’t list everything that’s going on — just a short collection of great shows happening in our city that you shouldn’t miss this week. To make it as easy for you as possible, you can listen to all the bands and sometimes get some free MP3s!
