DIY Mercury Glass Poison Bottles

Hope you enjoyed my Spook-tacular Halloween Tour last week. If you missed it you can see it here. I had fun decorating and one of the items that I had the most fun with were the DIY poison bottles. I made them last year but I added 2 new ones to the mix this year. So I wanted to share with you how to make these.

This is a easy last minute project! You just need a few bottles and some scrapbooking labels. I have used wine bottles in the past but this time I had 2 olive oil bottles that were just the right size and shape to be spooky Halloween poison bottles. The trick is to make these bottles look old which is easily done with Krylon Looking Glass Spray Paint

I sprayed each bottle with 2 coats. You can see how it gets a mercury glass looks.

Next you will need some scrapbooking labels.

I found these labels at Hobby Lobby last year. But here are some similar labels from Amazon. If your labels don’t have adhesive, use a sponge brush to apply some Modge Podge to the back and front of the label. This will give the paper some bend. Apply the label to the bottle and hold in place for a few moments until it holds in place. Allow to dry and that’s it. You have some spooky mercury glass poison bottles to add to your Halloween decorations.
