Diy Harness Necklace

By Elliefrost @adikt_blog

I have always liked the idea of Harness necklaces, but never found one that I really really wanted to buy, I suppose I was looking for something too specific, that is detailed on the back rather than the front. I haven’t got very much going on the front so why emphasize a flat chest! So I gave up the search, it was quicker to design my own. I knew exactly what I wanted anyway and the only technique needed to complete this project is to close shut a few jumprings!

It’s a difficult thing to explain how to make, a harness necklace. So click here for the DIY harness necklace pattern that I made, without it, you’ll probably get lost, unless of course you change the design!

The how to

1. You will need : 7 metres of chain (buy a strong one!), jumprings, pliers (preferably two but you can do it with one), cutters, a tape measure and jewlery glue or superglue.

2. Cut all the chain following the pdf directions.
3. The action to open and close a jumpring is a twist instead of a pull, take a look at this video to learn about the proper way to use jumprings.

4. Attach the chain to make the sleeves. Add a chain across the back to form a line under where the neck will be.
5. Following the harness pattern pdf, turn the necklace over and the three chains on the front.

6. Attach the chain the bottom of the sleeve 2 cms apart.
7. Attach the chain to the neckline at 2cms apart. Glue any joints that may be weak and you’re done!!

What do you think? Will you be making any harness necklaces anytime soon?

Take care,
