Dixie Chicks Mock Donald Trump with Photo at Concert

It must suck to be such unoriginal, angry artists.

From Entertainment Weekly: The Dixie Chicks kicked off the American leg of their MMXVI world tour last week on a, shall we say, memorable note (more like unoriginal).

The country group performed “Goodbye Earl” in front of a photo slideshow, which included a defaced picture of presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

The moment took place during their Cincinnati concert on Wednesday. The image, which depicted Trump with facial hair and devil horns, recalled the Dixie Chicks’ infamous statement from a London concert in 2003. Then, lead singer Natalie Maines addressed the crowd, saying they were “ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas.” As a reference to George W. Bush, the political act caused a nationwide controversy that left fans and radio stations boycotting their music.

“Goodbye Earl,” too, stirred up drama for its adjoining music video that showed two women murdering an abusive husband.

This is not the first time the Dixie Chicks have taken a shot at Trump. Earlier in January, Maines tweeted, “As long as Donald Trump’s decisions for America are as solid as his decision about his hair, we’re in good shape.”
