No, this is not an April Fools joke. Disney and Pixar have announced the sequel to Finding Nemo, will be entitled Finding Dory, and is coming to theaters November 2015. Ellen Degeneres will reprise her role as Dory, but this time she has been given the spotlight. The film will be directed by Andrew Stanton, a Pixar veteran responsible for directing the first Finding Nemo film.
Not much is known about the sequel yet besides the title, but Stanton has said that the story will take place roughly a year after the original. It is expected that most of the original cast will return including Nemo, Marlin, and Gill and hopefully Bruce.
Degeneres has recently spoke to the press about the new Finding Nemo film,
“I know the people at Pixar were busy creating Toy Story 16. But the time they took was worth it. The script is fantastic. And it has everything I loved about the first one: It’s got a lot of heart, it’s really funny, and the best part is—it’s got a lot more Dory,” she said.
Finding Nemo won the 2003 Academy Award for best animated feature. It is one of the highest grossing films of all-time and is widely considered one of Pixar’s very best films.
Finding Dory will find its way into US theatres November 25, 2015.
