Disney Dinner and a Movie: Lady and the Tramp

Posted on the 10 September 2013 by House Of Geekery @houseofgeekery

Lady and the Tramp has one of the most iconic meal scenes in the history of film. Who can forget the romantic spaghetti and meatball dinner shared by the sweet Lady and the dirty but lovable Tramp? It’s a “Romeo and Juliet” type story that incorporates adorable dog characters and memorable music. Not only is this a great film, but it leads to a great meal as well.

For a snack I wanted to incorporate this adorably shaped and yummy vanilla-flavored Scooby-Doo cereal I found. This is a simple and fun snack, albeit not very nutritious. All I did was take graham crackers and spread peanut butter on them. Then I topped them with the dog bone shaped cereal and chocolate chips. Lastly I added some Hershey’s syrup. Easy, delicious and fun, these make a great snack for any age.

It will come as no surprise to anyone what I choose to make for dinner. It may be predictable and cliche, but you can’t have a Lady and the Tramp meal without spaghetti and meatballs.  I don’t eat meat, so I used Nate’s Zesty Italian Meatless Meatballs which were unexpectedly tasty. Nate’s is by far one of the best faux-beef products out there. I wanted to make a fun, romantic drink to go with the spaghetti, so I used ginger ale, maraschino cherries, and grenadine to make classic Shirley Temples.

For dessert I made Lady Fingers, in honor of the films titular character. I used the cake part from this recipe and topped them with strawberries cut into hearts and chocolate syrup. As you can see from the photo, my cake slicing skills leave much to be desired but they tasted yummy regardless.

Lady and the Tramp was another fun installment into this column. I got to make the classic spaghetti and meatballs and some other romantic and sweet treats to go with it. It’s a charming movie and easy enough to pair with a meal.
