20,000 LOCATIONS UNDER THE SEAS (1954)

Absolute classic of the adventure film, 20,000 leagues under the sea, adaptation of the famous novel by Jules Verne , has lost none of its charm almost seven decades after its theatrical release. It is certainly a bit kitsch, but so beautiful and exotic ... Clearly, the magic still operates! First film in the cinemascope of Disney studios, winner of two Oscars (Best visual effects and Best artistic direction), this 20,000 leagues under the sea with a colossal budget for the time is notably led by Kirk Douglas and James Mason, who respectively embody Ned and Captain Nemo, at the controls of the famous submarine Nautilus.
THE GHOST OF BLACK BEARD (1968)
The Ghost of Blackbeard, condemned by his last wife to wander on Earth until he performs a good deed, decides to help an athletics team to win the tests by using his invisibility. This fanciful feature film, which mixes adventure, fantasy and comedy, is directed by Robert Stevenson, who had signed a certain Mary Poppins four years ago. In the skin of the pirate Blackbeard, we find the actor Peter Ustinov, known in particular for his incarnations on the screen of the detective Hercule Poirot.
DAVY CROCKETT, KING OF TRAPPERS (1954)
The most famous trapper arrives on the big screen! In the feature film Davy Crockett, King of the Trappers, made up of episodes from the ABC series shortly before, this American hero must establish peace with the Indians, play politics and save Fort Alamo. Davy Crockett, still played by actor Fess Parker, will be back a year later for a new adventure, called Davy Crockett and the pirates of the river.
TREASURE ISLAND (1950)
Treasure Island is the story of the young Jim Hawkins, who follows the old pirate Long John Silver in his quest for Captain Flint's treasure, aboard the Hispaniola. The adventure with a capital A is at the rendezvous of this new adaptation of the classic by Robert Louis Stevenson, which will delight young and old. A big half-century later, the Disney studios will offer an animated version of this cult story with The Treasure Planet, the hunt now taking place ... in space!
THE ROBINSONS OF THE SOUTH SEAS (1960)
The members of a Swiss family, who decide to move to New Guinea to make a new start, see theTheir boat sinks in the open sea. They manage, however, to land on a desert island. On the spot, their life begins to organize themselves until the day when they discover that the forest is populated by pirates who hold the captain of a ship and his niece hostage. This is the pitch of the fast-paced and exotic adventure film The Robinsons of the South Seas, directed by the Briton Ken Annakin (nothing to do with Star Wars!). Note that the cabin in which the heroes live is the one you can visit at Disneyland Paris, in the heart of Adventureland!
