My fascination with audiovisual irony has grown – with the addition of this new Disclosure video for their single “White Noise.” The song features AlunaGeorge and has received an incredible response from fans the moment it hit the interwebs. This video is indeed different from past Disclosure videos, meaning it isn’t full of gorgeous people standing around or dancing. This video does not take place in a party or a club. The video doesn’t even feature either of the bands on the track (other than The Face, of course). Instead it takes us into a day in the life of a security guard in the grimy land of modern-day Detroit. Now, some would ask “what the hell does this video have to do with the song?!” Well, the track does have a heavy techno influence, and Detroit is the birthplace of techno, among many other styles of music. Why wouldn’t they want to pay homage to the city? I’m also interested in how such a huge track matches along with simple, minimal visuals. This video says a lot by saying very little, and it goes to show you how music can create any environment you want it to. Just watch the security guard.
