A special discussion to inform and bring awareness to all foreign High Commissioners, Ambassadors and Diplomatic Representatives about the new Anti-Terrorism Bill which was chaired by the Minister of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reforms, President’s Counsel Dr. Wijayadasa Rajapakshe together with Minister of Foreign Affairs, President’s Counsel, Ali Sabry, was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday (1).
The new Anti-Terrorism Bill proposes expanding the definition of terrorism to include many other crimes and violence that come under the broader definition and purview of terrorism which are categorized as threats to break law and order in maintaining the peaceful existence of society as a whole.
The High Commissioners and Ambassadors presented their views and suggestions on the new Anti-Terrorism Bill, and the Minister of Justice, Prisons and Constitutional Reforms, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the officers of the Attorney General’s Department answered all their queries and concerns providing relevant facts and information.
