Week’s Top Releases
The Albums You Need to Know About Every Week

Happy Release Day Eve! Let’s begin with the debut records — Austin-based folk singer-songwriter, Jesse Woods, releases his debut full-length this week, containing intricate, intimate tracks that make for an indelible listen. The other debut comes from LA dream-pop stunners, Superhumanoids, whose EP releases over the past few years have garnered massive buzz and earned them opening slots for some indie majors like Local Natives, Cold War Kids, and Grouplove. Exhibitionists is a dazzling debut album full of effervescent, dark-tinged pop brilliance.

This week also brings two sophomore releases to the surface. First is Canadian Dinosaur Bones who developed their brand of engaging indie rock into a fully-rounded sound with the help of producer John Congleton (St. Vincent, David Byrne, The Walkmen). The result is not to be missed. Second, there’s Minks who have turned in their guitar fuzz for synths and crafted one hell of an electro-pop dance record.

Finally The Polyphonic Spree is back after seven years (not counting last year’s Christmas album) with their fourth full-length. The sound is a bit more grounded and electronic, but still every bit as buoyant and religiously positive.
