Dining in Style with Restaurant Week Amsterdam

By Amsterdam City Tours

Foodies prepare – Amsterdam’s Restaurant Week is about to launch! The spring edition of the twice yearly event is celebrating the Benelux Speciale.

From 14 to 20 March, over 1,700 restaurants in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg will welcome diners to sample their culinary creations. Everything from local haunts to celebrity status spots will be treating taste buds – at appetizing prices.

“Restaurant Week is organised to promote quality restaurants. Our wish is to make high cuisine accessible to everyone at a reduced price,” says the event’s founder, Lex Ouburg.

Always wanted to try Jamie Oliver’s dishes at his Restaurant Fifteen? Catch dinner and a show at Supperclub? Book a table at Amsterdam’s only Michelin star winner, Restaurant Vermeer? Restaurant Week’s special set prices for lunch (22.50 euros) and dinner (27.50 euros), mean diners with any budget can indulge.

In fact, restaurants participating in Restaurant Week are out to wow their patrons. A nod to the critic in all of us, the event’s website asks for diner reviews of the highs and lows from their experience.

Positive reviews can pay off big, as last year’s Publiekprijs winner knows too well. The prize, awarded after each Restaurant Week to the establishment with the best public praise, went to Rotterdam’s Boerengat restaurant.

Owner Remko Koen was openly pleased with the title. “Winning the Publieksprijs was very good publicity for us. Every year we see new people visiting the restaurant.

The prize is Restaurant Week’s way of giving back to the professional community and staying in touch with diners – what better way to do that than through their stomachs!
