Nestled on a Clapham side street in a cute location under the railway bridge is a new late night cocktail and dim sum bar called Fu Manchu.
I love dim sum (a new thing since moving to London) and when I was invited to their launch night, I was so excited to see what they had to offer.
From the outside, the green exterior and deep red overhanging window arches made me think of something burlesque style or vintage. The inside is amazing…just look…
We took a seat on the raised section back towards the front of the building, and had a glass of wine whilst everyone else was arriving – the evening was for press but also local businesses which I thought was really nice.
We got served for the evening by a fab waitress who brought round prosecco and dim sum in huge baskets. The dim sum were amazing!! My favourites were the Nan Gua Su (Sweet pumpkin puff – baked) and the Har Gau (King Prawn dumplings in a translucent skin – Steamed)!
I didn’t get to try all the ones I wanted to so I definitely have to return! There are quite a few which sound super tasty.
We went to the bar to get some cocktails a little later too. Service wasn’t speedy, but it was really busy and cocktail making is quite a bit about the show aspect too – flaring and being friendly which these guys were – and it wasn’t too slow.
The cocktails themselves were great. The Manchu Mind Control cocktail design was incredible. I loved the flame (be extremely careful on your way back to your table!).
Although my favorite drink of the night was the Mai Chai. May not look as awesome but absolutely delicious!
It was a fantastic night – fab and friendly service, delicious food and great drinks.
If you’re a south-west-ie, It’s fantastic news, we no longer have to travel to central London to find some delicious dim sum. For the rest of you, it might be a little out of the way…but it’s well worth the trip! Great place for dates or a group of friends to catch-up.
I’ll definitely be returning, might see you there!
