Dilli to Dakshin is a newly opened restaurant in HSR Layout just opposite NIFT. It’s a bit hard to find at first, but the location is easily accessible right opposite the main gate of NIFT. The outlet is located on the first floor and once inside you can find a modern décor with open kitchen. The walls are decorated beautifully with paintings and colorful seating arrangement. The place serves Pan-India cuisine with a twist. They even have a separate live counter for chaats.
We started with appetizers like Beet Cheesy Delight, Chilli Mosa and the Pasta Pomodorro. The Beet Cheesy Delight was made with beetroot mixed with cashew and cheese inside in a tikki form. The use of home white butter had a lastly effect. This is a perfect example of healthy and tasty, loved it! The Chilli Mosa is samosa filled with corn, paneer and capsicum and is served with hot chilli sauce. The stuffing was very flavorful. The Pasta Pomodorro was indeed one of the best pasta dish’s ever. The pasta is tossed with slow cooked tomato sauce, sundried tomatoes, garlic and basil. The flavors were spot on and the sundried tomatoes gave it a tangy twist. Mindblowing! We even tried some of their items from th Chaat counter like the Suji Wala Paani Poori Shots and the Dahi Bhalla Chaat. The Pani Puri comes in 2 different flavored waters as shots which were excellent in taste. The Suji wala poori could have been crispier. The Dahi Bhalla chaat was good as well. The house made Butter Milk goes really well with the appetizers.
Coming to the main course we ordered the Dal Bukhara, Tawa Kofta, Koyla Paneer Makhani and the Broccoli Tikka Saag. The Dal Bukhara was delectable with slowly cooked lentils and a lot of butter. The taste of roasted garlic couldn’t be more flavorsome. This was indeed one of my favorites. The Tawa Kofta are Daal Kofta cooked on tawa and topped with creamy onion gravy. A bit heavy on the stomach but great in taste. The Koyla Paneer Makhani was an excellent preparation. The Butter Paneer Masala is smoked with charcoal which sips deep inside the paneer cubes. The combo cannot be missed by any chance. Lastly, the Broccoli Tikka Saag is yet another Tandoori Broccoli in creamy spinach and cashew gravy. The Broccoli are roasted in tandoor before adding to the gravy. Very innovative and savory. The gravies are best tried with the Butter Garlic Naan or Laacha Paratha. We couldn’t resist to try their Hyderabadi Biryani. This mutilayered biryani was very aromatic with kewra and had large chunks of veggies.
For desserts we tried their Baklawa Indian Style. A crispy cigar shaped sweet is dipped in house made rabri and topped with rose petals and nuts. The rabri was a bit granular and the combo was worthwhile. The Half n Half Shahi Tudka is crispy bread topped with rabri and rose petals.
The best part of dinning at ‘Dilli to Dakshin’ are its pocket friendly prices. Overall, an excellent place to try Pan-Indian cuisine with a twist.
