As the nights seem to be starting earlier and the temperature begins to drop, we soon seem to realize that we are nearing the cold winter months once again. Rich colours cover forests, parks and gardens as the leaves change color on the trees and eventually fall to the floor, revealing the bare tree branches beneath and really displaying the shapes of individual trees.
Numerous species of native British tree are still common and can be found growing throughout the country, still sometimes standing strong and proud after hundreds of years. Although a number of our more iconic species did once arrive from different parts of Europe, they have integrated seamlessly into their varying habitats but it can often be tricky to identify different species.
