Did Chad Really Headbutt Evelyn?

Let me be real: The second I heard the story I didn’t believe Chad really headbutted Evelyn. And despite his recent apologies, I still don’t believe he did it. Even though the Miami Dolphins have released him and he’s lost his show with Evelyn, I don’t think he’s been facing the kind of attacks and character criticisms that Chris Brown faced in 2009 and I think there’s a reason for that. I believe the reason lays somewhere between people’s general dislike and distrust of Evelyn Lozada herself and people just genuinely not believing it.

I don’t want to hold Evelyn’s many character flaws against her and take the fact that Chad is just generally more likeable than her as my one reason for being skeptical about this altercation. But I just find it interesting that Chad and Evelyn have managed to be together for a significant period of time (in the world of Reality television at least), and they’ve never had any major problems outside of their infidelity, much less domestic violence claims, but 41 days into their marriage with Evelyn’s popularity dwindling, Chad just up and becomes violent…sounds suspicious to me. I truly feel like this is some kind of publicity stunt on Evelyn’s part to try to garner the kind of attention received by Rihanna and Chris Brown’s domestic violence case and Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries’ 72 day marriage.

As vicious as it seems, I just don’t think she’s above it , and apparently I’m not the only person who feels this way. NFL player, Warren Sapp, recently gave an interview where he expressed similar views to mine:

Do you think the Dolphins are worse off without Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson?

I was rooting for him. When Chad had that first press conference on Hard Knocks, I thought to myself, “This isn’t good.” The coaches came to him and let him know he can’t do this, he represents the organization, etc. I have a sense of humor, but they should have come to him and said, ” I saw the press conference. If you do it again, you’re gone.” He didn’t know if this was his first strike, second strike, what it was. They were setting him up. There were so many potholes; he didn’t know where to step.

You think they used the Evelyn Lozada fight to kick him off the team?

Come on. Tell me the first and last name of a brother who headbutted someone.

Chad Johnson, I suppose.

No, before that. When is the last time one of your homeboys called you and told you, “Let me tell you about this fight at the club last night where this guy and his girlfriend were walking by and he turned around and headbutted the girl.” Never. He’s taking the rap for it. We don’t do that. She did it. That’s a woman that is going to depend on her beauty for the rest of her life to open any door she wants to walk through, and she is going to do what to her forehead? I’m done. [Chad] is a bunch of fun and I am sorry this had to happen to him.

If Chad really did it, then there’s no excusing what he did… though I still wouldn’t believe that warrants him losing his job, but regardless, domestic violence is inexcusable.   Right now, I just don’t believe Evelyn. What do you guys think?
