I still remember the first time I've known her. I was back in Samar, the TV was playing mindlessly in the background providing an apt soundtrack to a highly-anticipated idyllic summer. Out of the provincial blue, the music video of The Look of Love played on and instantly I was enamored by the lady in the moving wallpaper with the calming voice and chill music. I was 17 and have never forgotten Diana Krall since. Take a listen.

I knew months before that Diana Krall was playing but I wasn't sure about the date. I deliberately didn't check the schedule. I thought it's already excessive to ask to the universe given summer days are finally here. And so I let it pass. Until that day, 13th of July 2013, Sasha arrived at our apartment to stay for a night and she told me she's in town to see Diana Krall. She bought her ticket online for 50 euros and after a few fan-to-fan gushes, she showed me where I can view the show details and the ticket shop on the festival's website.
Meanwhile, Julien and Yoann were having trouble (as usual) downtown because Julien's car was towed due to illegal parking. They were supposed to get a bit of sun for a few minutes in the center, come back to have lunch and pick me up so we can go to the coast and spend the night there. They were running late so I called Yoann to ask how are things going.
"Did you call?"
"Yeah I just wanted to tell you that we are at the Police Station because Julien's car was taken by the police."
"All I really want to do right now is to go to the Gent jazz Festival and watch Diana Krall," I said.
"Diana, who?"
"Diana Krall. The tickets are at 50 euros."
"Diana what?"
"Krall"
"50 euros? Is she famous?"
"Yes!"
"Ok. That's ok."
"Show starts at 10:30 P.M. I will go online now and buy 3 tickets for us. See you later!"
