Passing through my "home" tube station of East Finchley has been a joy this summer thanks to the work of the children at Martin Primary School.
Their project – Destination East Finchley – encourages us to pause and think about where we have come from and where we are all going together. A celebration of community and diversity, it gives perfect food for thought for a journey from the suburbs to the heart of the original multi-cultural metropolis.
As we pause we are encouraged to fill in a little circular postcard detailing our backgrounds and how we came to be in the capital. We are similarly encouraged to pop a sticker on the map of the world to show our place of origin. The exhibition has made for some fascinating reading…
If you are passing through East Finchley, don't miss it. It's proof that London REALLY IS Open.
Thanks to the children at Martin Primary for such an inspirational and thought-provoking show! A London Walk costs £10 – £8 concession. To join a London Walk, simply meet your guide at the designated tube station at the appointed time. Details of all London Walks can be found at www.walks.com
