Lately I’ve been admiring interiors with architectural detailing, such as beams, crown molding, chair rails and even flooring. These interior-design finishing touches add another dimension to a room, giving it character and visual appeal.

Let’s take a look at some ways in which architectural detailing can take your home up a notch.

How amazing is this entryway? From the moment you enter through the stained paneled door you’re greeted with beautiful wood detail work throughout the space. I love the all white painted panelling throughout this space with a touch of stained wood to give it some color.

Maybe you’d like something a little simpler. Forego the wood paneling and paint your entryway floor and staircase; you will still achieve the look of architectural detailing and a seamless look.

These windows speak to the architecture of the room. They also give you a gorgeous view of the landscape.

The attention to detail in this reading nook is very enchanting. I just adore the curved ceiling enclosure and striped painted walls! I would love to sit here and get lost in a book. Isn’t that porthole window cute? I like the yellow paint color.

Doors are one of the most popular ways to accentuate architectural detailing. Look at this wood-planked door with its unusual hinges and arched doorway. I love the brown and white color scheme and built-in nook.

Recurring arched doorways make quite a statement. The paneled door has a real presence!

You can use paint-color combinations to create architectural detailing in your room. In this picture, the wall-panel design is highlighted in a beautiful shade of pink while the frame is painted in white.
