Design Style: Globes

By Simone Design Blog @HomeSpire

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I love to travel, especially in foreign countries. Experiencing the culture, food, and sights of a new city thoroughly fascinates me. When I travel, my camera gets a real workout, as I take literally hundreds of pictures. Because of my love of travel, I bought a desk globe for my office. It’s wonderful! I get a trip down memory lane whenever I look at it. Another nice aspect of a globe is that it gives a 3-dimensional representation of what the earth looks like, something an atlas or 2-dimensional computer screen simply can’t do. Finally, I love globes because they provide a tie to the past. They traditionally were always present in any well-traveled person’s library or office; because of this they give an office an ambience of tradition and class.

Let me show you some decorating ideas on how you can decorate your room with a globe. I think you might just inspired to get one.

If you have the space in your home, why not have a map room? Can you just imagine how much fun it would be to plan your next vacation in a room like this?

One of the great things about travel is that you find out how many good, kind people there are. Edith Wharton

These are just a few ways you can use globes as decorative (and educational) objects in your home. I hope I’ve inspired you give them a try in your home.
