Derek Lam Meets Kohl’s

By Modernartandstyle @modernartstyle

Fashion is continually being democratized, which makes sense given that the economy is still in transition. Not to mention, the fashion industry as well as state of the middle class is constantly in flux. For designers it’s important to come down from of the rarefied, boutique air they inhabit and cater to a broader consumer base.

As high-low dressing continues to stay the norm for A-listers, thanks to the outstanding designer collaborations that seem to pop out every week, we look forward to Derek Lam’s limited-edition DesigNation Kohl’s line (debuting April 5). We already received a sneak peek at two of his darling dresses, and now we’ve scored this never-before-seen video of Lam showing how to style pieces in the line. Watch it and get ready to pick up some of his affordable threads for spring.

I have a feeling JT is looking forward to this little reveal. Hopefully this won’t be a repeat of the Prabal Gurung debacle. At any rate, the rollout has begun.

Highlights include a button-down shirt dress in a wood-grain print ($70), a blue hooded snap trench jacket ($70) and a long pink drawstring skirt ($54). There are also print pants, knit tops, long maxi dresses and a shawl-collared vest.
