Der Zeisel: Off-Road Wheelchairs for the Disabled Explorers

Posted on the 15 November 2013 by Nrjperera @nrjperera

Who says disabled people have to stay at home reading newspapers and playing chess. All it takes is a little bit of courage to see nothing’s impossible to achieve, no matter who you are. Now this German company has developed a machine named Der Zeisel (meaning ‘The Seat’ in German), an off-road wheelchair for those of who wants to take their wheelchairs to the next level and explore beyond its’ limits.

Der Zeisel is more like an one-man mobilized tank that can travel on basically any terrain. Snow, mud, mountains, rocks.. you name it. The wheelchair gets powered by electric disk motors and is capable of producing 21 hp and 30 lb-ft of torque, enough to take you up to a speed of 22 mph. Definitely beats Professor-X’s wheelchair too.

Der Zeisel will set you back about $30,000. I think it’ll be a great investment compared to what you’ll get in return.

Check out the video to see it in action.
