**Welcome to my very first post of what was going to be called my “weekend wanders” photo project. I decided to change the name to add a little bit of a personal touch. Enjoy!**
A little while back I discovered a little nook that has since become my favorite place to meet up and visit with friends, or even to simply pop in and grab a great cup of coffee or a snack. This little nook is called the Fire Roasted Coffee Company and the newest location is found at the corner of King Street and Talbot Street in downtown London. It’s a great little area – across from Budweiser gardens, home of local sports teams and the go-to event venue – and kitty-corner to the Covent Garden Market, a great place full of amazing food and artistry from local vendors.
I went to Fire Roasted for the first time before going to a hockey game across the street and have returned several times since. The coffee is hand-selected and locally roasted, with fair trade and organic options available. Fire Roasted also has a sister company called Habitual Chocolate and they make and sell their own chocolate products right on site. Super cool, right?
The menu has the standard options – a good ol’ cup of coffee, a tea biscuit or a muffin…as well as a selection of specialty coffees and their very own hot chocolate which is made with their own chocolate. A bonus also: all of their treats and snacks are made on site and are all delicious (at least the ones I have had the opportunity to try)!
The atmosphere at Fire Roasted is very laid back and comfortable. Walking in, the shop smells like the perfect combination of coffee and chocolate… Yum! You feel welcome from the moment you walk in the door. Seating options are tables or stools set around the perimeter at gorgeous wooden bars mounted in the windows – both are excellent options. I only have one complaint and I’m not even sure I would call it a complaint. The only thing that could make this place better for me would be the option of some cushy comfy chairs to sit in, but I’m not sure that would really be possible in this cozy little coffee and chocolate shop. Maybe I’m just being picky.
I feel like the Fire Roasted Coffee Company has something for everyone. If you’re not one to go out and enjoy your coffee, you can enjoy their fantastic coffee at home because they sell their blends in whole bean for by the pound in-store along with their large selection of chocolate products.
I recommend that (if you can) definitely check out the Fire Roasted Coffee Company. If you can’t make it downtown, they also have a location at the Western Fair Farmer’s and Artisan’s Market, and will soon be opening up a new location in Wortley Village.
